1) Remove your Outlook Profile

Step 1: Search for the control panel in Cortona in Windows 10.

Step 2: Open the Control Panel and find ‘Mail’ and then go into ‘email accounts’ logged into the system.

Step 3: If the problem persists with a single email, search for the same from the list. Tap on remove the account and click on ’yes’ on the confirmation window.

2) Delete the Outlook’s Directory Files

Step 1: Press ‘Windows + R’ and this will open up a new run window. You can also search for ‘run’ in Cortona.

Step 2: Type “%localappdata%” in the box and run it.

Step 3: You will come across a new window for the Outlook directory. Search for all the files with .tmp and XML extensions.

Make sure you go into all the 16 directories to delete all the files with the same extension. This has helped a lot of people facing login issues with Outlook accounts.

3) Modify your Registry

Step 1: Find ‘run’ in Cortona or press ‘Windows + R’ to open the new run window.

Step 2: Type ‘Regedit’ in the search box and run it. 

Step 3: On the Registry Editor window, click on File and then click on export as shown below.

Step 4: Export all the registry files to play safe and make sure you click on ‘all’ before clicking on save.

Step 5: After exporting all the files, search for Microsoft ->Windows NT -> Current version -> Windows ->AppInit_Dlls. Once you are in the file directory, adjust the value to 1 by clicking on LoadAppInit_DLLs from the options.

Step 6: Confirm the changes made by clicking on ‘OK’ and restart your device to refresh the registry editor.

4) Edit the .xml file of your Outlook Account

Outlook login errors appear whenever there are certain bugs in the .xml files of your account. You can easily fix it by editing those files and here’s how you can do it –

Step 1: Create a new POP profile on Outlook and don’t add any information to it.

Step 2: Find the outlook icon in the system tray and click on it while holding Ctrl+ right click on the mouse. From the new tray, click on ‘test email config’ and move on to the next step.

Step 3: Test the email by entering the email and password into the new window and click on allow ‘Autodiscover’ to proceed with your outlook account.

Step 4: Output will display on the screen after the last step and you have to copy it.

Step 5: Go to %localappdata%\Microsoft\Outlook\16 and find the .xml file of your account that is linked with it.

Step 6: Open the file with notepad and delete all the text and paste the one that you copied from the XML tab of the email autoconfiguration. Hooray! Close the XML file and login into your outlook account.
